I received an email the other day from Sports Authority telling me I had earned a 16 dollar reward this year for shopping! I decided that with my upcoming half marathon training coming up, I should invest in a new pair of running socks.
Why you ask? Because this is what usually happens when I wear my dearly beloved KB Costco socks out on any jog longer than 4 miles.
DISCLAIMER: IF YOU DON’T LIKE FEET OR ARE GROSSED OUT BY COOL RUNNING BATTLE WOUNDS (aka blisters) THEN STOP READING NOW. You have been warned 😉
I had heard some other bloggers mention Thorlo’s socks before, so I decided to give them a go. I took them for a 2 mile little break in jog with a friend, and then pounded out 5 miles and a full body workout with them on yesterday. I wore them with my regular running shoes, my Asic Gel-Equation 3s.
These socks are incredible. For someone like me, who always seems to get blisters regardless of what shoes I wear, these bad boys are PERFECT for keeping my feet from screaming at me.
They have padding on the sides of the toes (where I usually blister) and also in heel area, which is a common place for blisters as well. I am very pleased with the overall design of this sock- who knew so much engineering could go into something so small?
Maybe my engineer-in-training boyfriend could design me a sock to make me run faster. Technology, people! It’s the way of the future! Ha 😉
The socks also stayed up the entire time without me having to pull on them. That’s another pet peeve of mine- I hate when socks fall down, but I don’t want to wear socks that go up to my thighs to prevent that problem. THORLO to the rescue!! I’m so pumped to wear these when it comes time for my long runs during my training!
They also come in a TON of cool different colors. I wanted the bright orange, but they didn’t have my size. Also, if you are an in-between-sizer like me (I wear 6-7 depending on the shoe), I would recommend going with the bigger size in the socks, they shrink a bit in the wash. I went with a small, fits size 7-9 in women’s shoes and they fit like a glove (or a sock?) BAHA.
The only thing I would say is just okay with the product is that it claims to keep your feet cool. With my experience it didn’t keep my feet any cooler than my other socks, but I don’t really have a problem with my feet over heating during running.
Experia CoolMax Micro Mini socks are a little steep in price (14.99) for one pair of socks, but if you suffer from blisters they are worth every penny.
Blisters suck. Experia’s socks rock.
