My birthday started early Saturday morning with a delicious breakfast (raspberry granola pancakes!) and this beauty.
Following breakfast I met up with my friend Jordan who came down for the weekend from Fort Collins to celebrate my birthday! Jord and I have been friends for 15 years and are still going strong!
Coors Brewery Tour
We headed to Golden around 1:30 to go to the FREE Coors Brew Tour. I’ve heard great things about it from students who live around there. Yes, Coors is ON a college campus.
We parked in the visitors parking and waited in a looooong line for a bus. 30 minutes later we were on small bus that took us for a short tour around Golden.
Following the tour we checked into the front office, and got my 21-year old bracelet. Exciting!
The tour was self-guided, so we received audio devices that led us through the brewing process.
We learned that Adolph Coors, the founder of Golden Brewing Company (later changed to Coors Brewing Co.) was born in Prussia, but immigrated to the U.S when he was only 19.
From there he invested his life savings in a bottling firm and worked six days a week. But, his passion didn’t lie in bottling, but brewing, and he spent every Sunday traveling the Front Range to find the perfect spot for his brewing company.
He chose Golden for its premium clean water source due to its location next to Clear Creek.
In the middle of the tour, you receive a small cup of either Coors Banquet or Coors Light beer.
After the tour, you turn in your audio devices and are directed into a lounge full of tables and bar stools. It was PACKED! Here, you get your choice of three FREE beers on tap.
We both only had one, because we had to go get ready for dinner/drinks right after the tour.
Blue Moon for both of us!
Then, an employee announced on her microphone that she was looking for a “Melissa” because it was her special day. Jordan and I both looked at each other confused. I figured she was looking for me because it was my birthday and Melissa was close to Marissa. SOOOO I walked up to her and she said that she was in fact looking for me and announced to everyone that it was my 21st!
We ‘cheers’d’ and she gave me a pretty hilarious t-shirt.
THE DROUGHT IS OVER!
A ton of people came up to me after that and wished me a happy birthday. It made me feel so blessed that there are such friendly people in the world.
We then took the bus back to the car to go get ready for dinner! Part two of my birthday weekend coming soon!
