Hello everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend! Mine went by SO fast, and I had a blast. But, it’s back to business. Plus, I’ve missed everyone in the blogosphere. Let’s recap the craziness that was the weekend here.
Thursday night after my sister’s graduation ceremony Ian and I headed up to Nebraska to stay with my family at our lake house for the weekend. To preface this, know that I have spent the majority of my summers at this lake since I was a kid. It’s my second home! Colorado may be in my blood, but Nebraska (and lots of lake water!!) is in my heart.
I didn’t take many pictures, but I did snag one of a quiet morning drinking my coffee out on the patio. Coffee tastes SO much better at the lake
We spent our days playing at the beach, boating and enjoying the company of the genuine people in this small town.
I also snapped the cutest picture of a family friend’s little Coppertone baby.
His swim trunks were a little bit too big!
I headed home Sunday night to rest up for my race on Monday morning!
Monday started bright and early with a drive into Boulder in a 64′ Cadillac. There were seven of us. Yes, it was hilarious.
We ran the BolderBOULDER 10k! The shuttle from the parking lot to the start line took 45 minutes and I had to pee (naturally, I have the bladder of a hummingbird). This meant we missed our wave and had to start in a later wave which didn’t really matter to us. We were all doing it for fun!
I do this race every year with my dad, but he wasn’t able to participate this year because of an injury. Next year dad, next year!
Anyways, the race was awesome and I always have so much fun running it. It runs through the neighborhoods of Boulder and there is always a slip ‘ n’ slide, keg stands ( I would puke!!) cotton candy and random entertainment. Its by far the most fun race that I have ever ran. Must be why I keep coming back for more!
I finished with a few of my friends in 1:03, not bad if you ask me!!
If you ever want to run a race in Colorado, I highly recommend the BolderBOULDER. Although it IS crowded (over 50k people!), it is SO much fun and you will be entertained the whole race.
My friend also ended up with a pool to take home. Don’t ask me how. So naturally we had a pool party in the middle of the post-race festivities.
The races on my schedule should be chilling out now, but hey, you never know!
I’m ready to get back into the swing of things but fully enjoyed my weekend off!
Questions for you:
- How did you spend Memorial Day weekend?
- What’s the funnest race you’ve ever ran?!
