Long time no talk!
I’ll get to the purpose of this blog’s title in a minute, but first…
This month summer has been full of traveling for me, and it’s not even halfway over! I just got home from Nebraska on Sunday, and leave for NYC on thursday morning! Followed by a trip to Maryland the following Saturday! Eeek! Please bear with me and my life as a jet-setter for the next couple of weeks. I have some exciting giveaways and news coming up on the blog!
To catch you all up, I have been working my butt off like a mad woman to get ready for the traveling I’ve been doing, only to come home and play catch up for the next couple days. Oh well- it’s totally worth it.
I spent my week in Nebraska relaxing and celebrating ‘Merica with my family and friends. I didn’t get many picture, but here are a few that I did take:
As far as workouts go, I have been going to CrossFit religiously and trying to run/do body weight workouts while on the road.
It didn’t hit me until this morning however that I only have SIX WEEKS until my triathlon. I have been running and doing a bit of swimming here and there, but have not done any training worth mentioning. YIKES.
This means that this month I need to get my butt in gear and start busting out the biking! I was going to put together a legit training schedule, but decided iy might be difficult with traveling to stick to a set routine.
Thus, I am planning on sticking to a general routine of 3 triathlon workouts per week and 3 CrossFit workouts per week.
“but Marissa, why don’t you give up CrossFit and focus on your upcoming Tri?”
I’m competing in a CrossFit competition on August 10th.
It’s okay, I almost peed my pants too when I committed. Although doing something like this scares the pants off of me (because I still consider myself still very much a beginner), I am trusting my friends at my box when they told me I’d do great and asked me to join their team.
I’m more nervous about the CF competition than I am about the triathlon, to be honest. I know that when it comes down to it I can run, bike and swim.
When it comes to lifting though, I dont want to let my team down when I can’t lift the RX weights at the competition. SO, I’ve been dripping in sweat every morning at 6:30am CrossFit when I’m in town, and doing some metabolic conditioning when I’m traveling.
I know when I finish the competition, no matter how I performed, that I will be proud. So far, my hard work IS paying off….
RX’ed it!!!! That’s my first WOD that I’ve been able to RX!
….and I’m off! Sorry for the randomness, I’ll check back in again soon!
Questions for you:
- Are you working towards anything?
- How do you deal with things that scare the pants off of you?
