Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Every year I try to come up with something creative to give, and sometimes it’s tough! Here are a list of my favorite Valentine’s Day gift ideas that aren’t super expensive and are fairly simple to make.
Who doesn’t like muddy buddies? They’re SUPER easy to make and easily customizable. I was browsing Pinterest and found a ton of recipes for flavors such as cookie dough, thin mint, chocolate peanut butter and funfetti. These to recipes below are my top two favorites & I’ll probably end up making one (or both!) for Ian for Valentine’s Day.
I made this gift last year for Ian and he LOVED it. It’s such a simple, meaningful and creative gift that won’t break the bank. All you need it a stack of cards, ribbon, and whatever decorations you choose to make it 100% special to you.
Massages are wonderful, but it’s not often that we treat ourselves (or our significant others) to one! However, massages at spas can be expensive, I get it! Tip: Check out the local massage school in your area for discounted massages that are just as good. Yes, these students are learning, but I’ve had wonderful experiences with every school that I’ve been too. Plus its only around $15-30 for a one hour massage. Set a limit of $15-$20 each and spend a few hours running around town getting a few things that your significant other loves but would never get for himself/herself.
Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers and her husband Ryan have done this a time or to and I absolutely love it. Check out her past baskets here and here. I think Ian & I are going to go this route this V-Day, along with some homemade baked goods!
One person cooks dinner, the other makes dessert! Ian and I did this last year as well. He made chicken marsala and I made apple pie apples. Although there were a few mishaps (the great burned bread incident of 2013), we had so much fun cooking together and preparing something that we knew the other would love (and that we would enjoy ourselves as well!).
The Alphabet of our Love
I found this idea on Pinterest and thought it was SO cute. It’s similar to the 52 Reasons Why I Love You gift, but I think that these types of gifts are the best. It’s really about the little things.
Warning: your hands will hurt after this! These blankets are so comfy and fairly inexpensive. All you need is 2 squares of fabric (size is you to you!) from a fabric store. The best part? You can make this blanket fit any type of personality. For directions, click here.
