Good afternoon, party peeps!
I seriously cannot believe that it is snowing here. I cleaned a good 4-6 inches off of my car this morning. MAY, where did you go??
This morning I started my day off with cherry yogurt, pb toast and hot mug of coffee. There is nothing more comforting on a cold day (or any day!) than a warm cup o’ joe!
I ate and got caught up on a few emails. Afterwards, I took my final online for my sociology class and wrote a final paper… all before saying BUH-BYE to The University of Colorado! I’m officially D-O-N-E!!!!
After doing a little happy dance, I headed out the door to meet up with Emily for a workout. We did biceps, triceps and chest. Oh lawdy has it been a hot minute since I’ve been in a real gym. I couldn’t tell you the last time I’ve done bicep curls, but it felt good to change it up a bit!
On the exercise front, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve been changing things up quite a bit. Running, CrossFit… bicep curls. Lately I’ve been getting Ian to tag along with me and it’s been a blast! Yesterday we headed to the gym before Mother’s Day festivities and completed this workout:
It was a good one!
OH! I almost forgot to tell y’all….I am running the BolderBoulder on Memorial Day! This was the very first race I ever ran — back in middle school with my Dad. It was a tradition for us to do it every year, but last year my dad hurt his foot so I ran the race with some friends. Anyone remember the recap?
If you aren’t familar with the race, the BoulderBoulder is a 10k that runs through the city of Boulder and finishes at Folsom Field, home of the buffs. The course is somewhat hilly, but you seriously don’t even realize it. There is SO much entertainment along the course. Bands, crowd supports, and most importantly — the locals on their lawns. Not even kidding, run this race and you will see slip n’ slides, shot stations (yes, alcohol), dorito stops and lots of kids spraying you with squirt guns. It’s by far the most entertaining race I’ve ever run, which is why I run it every year!
Helly Hansen is the apparel sponsor for the BB and sent me some rockin’ pants. Almost compression like. Super comfortable. Thanks guys!
My dad’s foot still isn’t feeling great, and all of my friends have other commitments that weekend. SO, I think it’s only fair that Ian runs it with me — right?? This would be his first race EVER, which makes it even better. Jury’s still out on this one, but I’m pretty good at convincing. I’ll keep ya updated.
As far as training, I’m sticking to this all-over-the-place routine of CrossFit, running and traditional strength training. I was feeling too tied down for a while with school, work and life in general… so I went rogue in the fitness portion of my day. I’m a rebel, I know. Ain’t nobody gon’ tell me what to do! 🙂
Catch ya later, alligator!
