I’m back from Park City, Utah where I was attending the third annual Blend Retreat. The weekend was full of non-stop fun and tons of go, go, go… which is probably why my immune system went kurplunk. I started throwing up on the plane ride home, and continued to well into today. I’m not feeling 100%, but at least it’s enough to function!
Now, enough of the pukies and on to the fun..
I arrived in Salt Lake City Friday morning, where I met up with Ericka to shuttle into Park City. Talk about a gorgeous drive! Similar to Colorado, I loved being welcomed by green vegetation + mountains all-around.
Then it was cocktail hour! The hour was sponsored by Fluro Water, which meant a choice of 2 fancy cocktails: apple mojito, cucumber refresher + black cherry champagne. I chose the cherry champagne for my first drink, and went back for a local IPA the second round.
There’s not better thing than a beer buzz + pizza, right? Which was exactly what we had for dinner. I followed it with a taste of pretty much every dessert. If you were wondering, chilled melon soup is da bomb. Sounds weird, but trust me — it’s great.
That evening consisted of more drinks + cards against humanity. Followed by lots of laughs and eventually crawling into our beds around midnight. The alarm went off WAY too early the next morning!
Saturday included bootcamp and breakfast by QUEST Nutrition (they are seriously the best!). They gave each blogger a box of their bars, and are shipping another one to us in the next week or so. Lucky for me, my roommates aren’t as crazy as me about Quest Bars, so I ended up with 3 boxes. HOLLLLLLA.
The afternoon was spent taking a gondola ride up the mountain, followed by a hike. The planned hike was only about 30 minutes, so a few of us decided to wander up the mountain a bit more and ended up hiking for about 4 miles. I only tripped and fell one time. That’s a feat.
We were welcomed back to our rooms with a stack full of goodies! Fairlife had room dropped every blogger with two bottles of their milk. Nothing like refueling after a hike with cold chocolate milk!
I teamed up with Fairlife for the Blend Retreat to spread the love to other bloggers about this fan-freaking-tastic company. I’ve written a blog post on them previously, but if you need some catching up here’s some quick facts:
- 50% more protein of other milk
- 50% less sugar
Although Fairlife is only found in Denver + Minneapolis right now, they are growing quickly! I’m happy that bloggers from across the country got to taste the milk this weekend, even if it’s not available in their own grocery store!
That night we went out for dinner in Park City, which eventually turned into Heidi, Natalie and I making our way to No Name Saloon to whoop it up <— Thanks Paige for my new favorite saying. After all, Natalie had never taken a shot before. When in
Rome Park City, right?
lots of tequila a few drinks, we headed back up to the resort. There was no way we were going trail running the next morning, right?
Heidi kindly persuaded me (drug me out of bed) to hit the trails with her and Natalie. We convinced Paige to join us, too! This was Paige + I’s first time trail running… and I have to admit, I kinda sorta love it! It’s much different and way more interesting than pounding pavement. After all, you have to keep your mind in it to not eat it on the rocks.
After breakfast, the closing ceremony and hugs, I made my way to the airport. Little did I know I would end up puking the entire plane ride home. Oh my turbuLANTA. Between the bumps and the stomach bug I spent the entire 90 minutes keeled over in my seat trying to breathe through it. Not fun.
But, now I’m back feeling a bit better. It was worth it. It’s amazing the friendships that I have made from blogging, When I started this blog almost a year and a half ago, I would have never guessed that I would make real, genuine friends from it. It truly is incredible when you find people with the same interests, humor and love for the outdoors as you. The internet is a strange, strange place.
Until next time, PC.
