I’ve hardly had a chance to blog the past couple of weeks, which are literally flying by. I never thought I’d say that I didn’t have time to blog, but I’m finding myself literally coming home from work, working out, making dinner, getting ready for the next day and passing out. I know I’ll figure out a more consistent schedule here soon, but for now I thought I’d catch you guys up on what’s been happening over in my neck of the woods.
Yep, it happened. After weeks of talking about it, I am officially done with school.
My friend Shelby even made a poster of my face. Because everyone needs a giant picture of their head, right?
I’m adding this picture because I’m in love with it. And it was taken on graduation day, so it counts. House rules.
I’m started a social media internship with Finish Line two weeks ago, literally 2 day after I graduated. ANDDD I’m happy to announce that I absolutely love it. The days literally fly by. I thought the transition from school to working full time in an office would be tough, but to be honest it hasn’t been as hard as I thought.
Yes, it’s amazing how tired you can get from sitting all day, but I absolutely love my job and the people that I work with. It’s such a fun, young and exciting environment!
Smart Fit Chicks
Remember the guest post that popped up here on BC a couple weeks back? Well, I started working with these smart, fit chicks (pun intended, lolol) for a month of wellness coaching. So far, we’ve done a wellness assessment and really dug deep into what is my ‘ultimate happy + healthy.’
There is so much that goes into being healthy — more than just dumbbells and meal planning. In fact, those things are trivial until you realize exactly what you want and how important of a part you mental health + mindset plays into your wellness vision.
I’ll give you guys a more in-detail update next week once I am fully immersed into the plan, but in a nutshell I am upping my protein, doing a more consistent strength program and working hard to calm my anxious habits + manage stress.
Since starting my new job, my CrossFit schedule has been all over the place. Traffic plays a huge role in whether or not I make it to class, so my workouts have been a bit wanky. This past week was a bit better — I made a deal with myself to make it to CrossFit 2-3x per week, which is tough because I was going 5-6x. I was getting super stressed out that I wasn’t making it to class, which is where Smart Fit Chicks comes in.
We decided that since my ultimate goal was to get stronger, I needed to be on a more traditional strength training program. I haven’t PR’ed in forever, and it could be from over-training + doing one too many WODS.
It’s definitely an adjustment not going to CrossFit and seeing everyone, everyday. But, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Sometimes the only way to get better at CrossFit is to stop doing CrossFit.
Plus, this new schedule works so much better with my work schedule. It looks a little like this:
Mon: CrossFit after work
Tues: SFC Strength before work
Weds: CrossFit after work
Thurs: SFC Strength before work
Fri: Either CrossFit or a workout that my office does before work every Friday
Sat: SFC Strength
I couldn’t completely give up CrossFit, but I am scaling back a bit! So far I’m enjoying the time in the morning by myself at the gym. It’s a different kind of feeling, but I’m not totally against it.
Looking forward, the next few weeks will be a whirlwind as well! Between weddings + bachelorette parties, weekends at the lake and a trip to Park City for the Blend Retreat, I’m going to be one busy bee.
As always though, I’m excited, nervous and 100% ready. Bring it on, June.
