This weekend Ian and I moved into our new place! It much more spacious than our old apartment, and it’s super nice having a kitchen that we can actually move around in! I’m excited to try out a few new recipes now that we actually have counter space to chop more than one tomato at a time (that may be an exaggeration…).
In other news, I learned that what I thought was a blue jay wasn’t actually a blue jay, and that I’ve been lied to my entire life. THE BIRD IS ACTUALLY A MAGPIE. As in, the bird I thought was so pretty and peaceful and lovely is actually just one step above a crow. Womp. Womp.
Speaking of birds, there is a TON of birdies in our new neighborhood and I loved watching them during our walk. I want to get a little more familiar with the wildlife in our area, as there seems to be a TON (we even saw a coyote casually strolling the neighborhood at 1pm. Ps. Coyotes scare the pants off of me).
I also made Ian stop by two nurseries on Sunday because I’ve become kind of obsessed with all forms of new life — including plants. There’s something that makes me very happy about watching something thrive that is so pretty + innocent.
So, I came home with a whole bunch o’ annuals as well as some succulents + two new cacti to add to my cactus collection. Ian named my first cactus as a joke, and it’s sort of snowballed from there. We’re kind-of-sort-of embarrassing plant people and now refer to our house plants by name . Crazy plant lady is the new crazy cat lady?
Don’t judge me. Or do, I don’t know anyone that names their plants either.
If that wasn’t a rambling post — I don’t know what is!! But it’s nice to check in with you guys, I miss y’all!
