Is it really only Thursday? I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to pack up the cooler and hit the road this weekend! It’s Summer’s 2nd birthday, and we’re celebrating at the lake with a flamingo-themed party!
It really doesn’t matter the week, you can always count on there being two things in my car on a Friday afternoon in the summer: a cooler full of food + booze, and my duffel back packed full of bathing suits or hiking clothes. Whether I’m going camping or heading up to the lake, Rhonda the Honda is most definitely waiting for me with an open trunk ready to hit the road.
I’m not a huge drinker, but there’s nothing that tastes better than an ice-cold beer on the boat or a light, refreshing cocktail during the warm summer nights with friends or family. Is it just me or does alcohol taste better outside?!
When Stanley Brand graciously gifted me with brand new Stanley cooler + cook set, I was stoked! I have a thermos of theirs and consider it pretty much an essential during the winter. Not to mention, we’ve been borrowing my Mom’s cooler for the past few summers (Thanks Momma!) and it’s pretty cool (ha) to have one our own. Although I honestly couldn’t tell you why we didn’t just go out and buy one ourselves?
I digress. With a brand spankin’ new cooler that keeps liquids cold for up to 36 hours, I knew it was time to get boozy with my favorite people (oh, and keep your food cold. Because #priorities). The Stanley Brand Cook Set came in handy for serving drinks in the PM, and mixing up oats in the AM (because those things go together, right?)
Now that the work week is wrapping up, I’m sharing a few of my favorite camping cocktails that will be sure to quench your thirst after a day on the lake, trail or sitting on your butt in a camping chair!
Sitting around the campfire — Redneck Margarita
1 can of frozen limeade
12 oz. of Tequila
12 oz. of Sprite or 7up
Mix it together in a pitcher + serve over ice! I’ve made many a’ redneck margarita in my day, and I can tell you from experience that they are best served with family or friends, an acoustic guitar and lots of belly laughs.
After a long hike —Moscow Mule
6 oz Ginger Beer
Squirt of Lime
Mix, squirt, serve over ice. Something about a Mule just makes me feel refreshed. After a long hike, I’ll either crack open a beer or mix up one of these suckers!
Hanging at the lake —Boozy Lemonade
8 oz. Simply Lemonade
2 oz. Vodka
Your favorite type of berries
Mix ’em up! I like to squish the berries before putting the rest of the ingredients in. Mainly because I love the mushy fruit that comes in flavored lemonades and yogurts, but also because it gives it a bit more flavor. So simple, so gooood. It’s pretty easy to throw a bottle of lemonade and some vodka into the cooler and head down to the beach. Not like I’ve done that once… or fifty times.
Regardless of where you’re headed in the coming weekends, there’s nothing like cracking open a cold one, mixing up a cocktail and hanging out with the people that make life worth it. After all, life’s about adventures and laughs. Thanks Stanley Brand for helping fuel my fun!
